Meet our founder, Jeremy

Hi! I’m Jeremy Van Groll, and I’m not your average accountant.

Trust me, I’ve heard all the jokes—ranging from “Only got six months to live? Marry a bookkeeper. It will seem a lot longer,” to, “What’s the difference between a lawyer and an accountant? An accountant knows he’s boring!”—so if you thought the words FREAKISHLY FUN BOOKKEEPER were paradoxical, (1) I getcha, and (2) I hope to pleasantly surprise you and prove you wrong!

I started Nonprofit Bookkeeping because I didn’t want “money stuff” to suck dry the souls of every person out there who is fighting so hard for good—whether that’s keeping plastics out of our oceans, bringing education to underprivileged students, or feeding the hungry. There’s nothing like the thrill of seeing the difference you’re making followed by the crash of money stress. I knew I had the qualifications, experience, and passion to help—so I left my corporate job and set out to do just that.

My goal—apart from helping you organize, manage, and strategize financially—is to create a working relationship with you that’s a lot like the culture in my own household, which is very laid-back. My wife has gotten our two sons on the Harry Potter train (the Hogwarts Express, I’m told); I’m more of a Star Wars guy myself (my sons are also fans). When the weather is good I like to take my motorcycle out for a spin and just appreciate how good life is. I believe in strong work-life balance; none of us should take work home with us, and that includes the “money stuff.”

When you chat with me or anyone on the Nonprofit Bookkeeping team, my hope is that we can lift your burden and not add to it. We truly do want to be a part of your mission. It would be our honor to have you bring us on board.

Here’s to all the good we can do together!
